Campbell Breaks School Record At Lady Rams Quad Meet
On a day set aside to honor the Senior Lady Ram track athletes, the Mt. Vernon Girls Track Team placed first in their quadrangular meet with Nashville, Herrin and Pinckneyville while watching one of their own break a school record.

One big highlight of the meet was Shelby Campbell breaking the school record with her discus throw of 124' 11.5 inches. "It was great that we had her throwing again after her injury and that she felt good throwing," said coach Connie Harre-Blair. "The extra plus was the school record. I am thrilled for Shelby's school record and the fact that she feels good again."
Another good race was Tanjania Haynes' race in the 100 dash. She ran 11.6 (wind-aided) and placed second to Penny Spencer from Pinckneyville who ran 11.23. Penny won the 100 and 200 in the Class A State Meet last year.
Other PR"s were Haynes' 200 time of 26.68 which was good for first place, Jessica Morgan in the 100 dash at 12.25 placing third and her long jump of 15' 2.5" for first place, Erin Moore in the HIgh Jump at 5'0" placing second, Riley Bruce 7'0" in the Pole Vault which placed her 4th and Riley Bruce again with 33' .5" in the triple jump for second place.

The meet featured pleasant temperatures with a strong wind along the home track at MVTHS. Coach Harre-Blair said that the girls felt good about their performances. "It was also good to run with 3 Class A teams that have a history of such good programs," said Harre-Blair. " We look forward to warmer, calmer days which may be on Friday when we run in the Marion Invitational starting at 4 pm."
Tiger Relay Results for Mt. Vernon Lady Rams
The Mt. Vernon Girls Track Team competed in the 14-Team Edwardsville Tiger Relays Wednesday. The team placed 8th with 25 points.
Team scores were: East St. Louis 108, Edwardsville 90, O’Fallon 83, Belleville West 76.5, Belleville East 70, Cahokia 58.5, Alton and Carlinville 36, Mt. Vernon 25, North Tech 17, Waterloo 11, Collinsville 9, Centralia 3.
It was strong competition and we had steady performances. Rylie Bruce placed 5th in the Triple Jump with a PR of 32' 10.5".
Our 1600 Meter Relay Team of Erin Moore, Tanjania Haynes, Rylie Bruce and Margo Richardson placed second (4:26.6) by a tenth to Belleville West’s relay team (4:26.5) running in another heat. We also had another very close race in the Distance Medley Relay. Margo Richardson who ran our last leg ran the 1600 meter in 5:13 to catch O'Fallon's 1600 meter runner at the line. We got second with no time difference. These relay races should generate confidence in our girls’ racing abilities. Also placing was Toni Huff 7th in the 3200 meter run, the 3200 meter relay team (Johnson, Kujawa, Reeves, and Modert) 7th, and Rylie Bruce 8th in the pole vault. It was a good meet for us even though our team place was not high. We will have a home meet on Wednesday, April 16th, with Pinckneyville, Nashville and Herrin. This meet will take the place of the Carbondale meet which had been on our schedule.
Lady Rams Bring Home 7th at Annie Invitational
On Friday, the Mt. Vernon Girls Track Team competed in the 14 team Annie Invitational on Friday placing 7th with 35 points. Cahokia won the meet with 100 points.

On Tuesday, April 1, the Mt. Vernon Girls Track Team competed with Salem in a dual meet. Team scores were Mt. Vernon 79--Salem 67.

The Girls Track Team will compete at the Annie Invitational on Friday with Field Events starting at 3 pm and Prelim Running Events starting at 4 pm.
Lady Rams Track Team Wins Quad Meet Over Salem, Marion & Centralia

The Mount Vernon Lady Rams track team overcame the chilly temperatures and their competition by winning a quad meet at home over Salem, Centralia, and Marion. The Lady Rams racked up 115.5 points, followed by Salem 79, Marion 45, and Centralia 31.5.
Head Coach, Connie Harre-Blair was very pleased with the results. "Our team improved most of their performances from Saturday," said Harre-Blair. "The team points are distributed pretty evenly among our freshmen, sophomores and seniors which is a good sign for the program." Mount Vernon was able to adjust to the chilly weather and came out ready to win according to Coach Harre-Blair. "The girls seemed to enjoy competing and also seem to feel good about their performances so far," said Harre-Blair.
The next competition for the Lady Rams track team will be at the Belleville West Invitational on Friday night starting at 4 pm. Here are the individual results from the quad meet listed below:
